This is a new page for me... lots of work yet to be done but wanted to get something basic up now. The first items to be shown here include Warriors roller derby photos and also two of the Warriors yearbooks!
I used to watch the Roller Derby in the early 1970s as a child, I looked forward to it very much! It aired on Channel 27 (WSMW) in Worcestor MA. We could get it on antenna, the picture was sometimes a but fuzzy but usually it was pretty clear. My favorite skater was Buddy Atkinson, especially when he clobbered opponents. Jim Trotter was also a favorite, and on the ladies side I liked "Mighty Might" Yvonne Riggins. I had always wished I could go to the roller game in person, but being that I lived about 220 miles from Philly that was totally impossible for me as a child. I remember Elmer Anderson doing the announcements, and I remember the name Octavius "Chrome Dome" Hodges (the doctor at ringside) being talked about from time to time. The Roller Derby was a very happy part of my childhood. I only wish that I could get my hands on some video of the Warriors' matches with other teams. Unfortunately very little video appears to have survived.
